When working with high powered rockets, safety is non-negiotable. As a team we have attended a safety presentation presented by our safety officer in which we signed our team's safety statement. We have been informed on the safety requirements that apply to high powered rocketry. With the help of our team mentor, Dave Combs, our NAR sponsor, the Wright Stuff Rocketeers, and the lab technicians at Cedarville University, we feel that we are adequately equipped to compete in this competition in a safe manner.
SAFETY OFFICER
To adhere to NASA Student Launch rules, and to ensure the safety of the team, our safety officer for the 2024-2025 competition season is Jesse Depalmo.
As a team we have agreed to sign this statement to ensure the safety of all personnel, our flight vehicle, and the surrounding environment.
WHAT WE DO
Priotize Safety
Safety Data Sheets
By utilizing SDS's we are able to know what personal protective equipment to wear, how and where to store chemicals, and necessary first aid measures.
Training
At the beginning of the school year, we received safety training from faculty members for each of the workspaces and labs that we will be working in.
Risk Assessment
To complete the NASA SL requirement, we defined a code and completed a risk assement to identify and mitigate any safety risks that could be introduced throughout the duration of the project.
